It has been on my todo list for way too long to start archiving my CSS crimes from cohost. Starting out with an easy one to see how tricky it is to port them to this site.

Turns out it was not that hard! By just copying the basic spin keyframe definition that all css crimes piggybacked off to my site’s css, it started working immediately. Took some finagling to figure out what css properties cohost used to remove the ability for html elements with css transform not to be able to break out of the confines of the post container, but that got sorted out too.

(You do it by setting overflow-x:auto; overflow-y:auto; overflow:clip; on the container div.)

My experiments with moiré patterns on cohost I think are the most distinct css crimes I made on there. Sure I made some really elaborate games and such, but my moiré animations were the ones where I felt that I really was doing my own original thing, and not ‘just’ applying techniques and hacks discovered by others. It is no coincidence I went with the same aesthetic for the header and footer art on this site.
